What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins that can often be seen on the surface of your skin. They can be found in your legs and elsewhere in your body. Varicose veins are quite common—about 40% of Americans have them to some degree. Symptoms include aching and discomfort.

If varicose veins cause pain or skin irritation, it’s important to seek treatment from a vein doctor in El Paso,  TX. Thankfully, there are numerous treatments available at our office that can treat varicose veins; you just need to determine which one best meets your needs.

Treatments Available at El Paso Varicose Veins Laser Clinic

The vein treatment that is best for you depends on your individual circumstances. We offer three minimally invasive varicose veins treatments: Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA), Ambulatory Phlebectomy, and Sclerotherapy. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks, so we can help you decide which treatment is right for you.

  • Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)

This technique uses a laser to seal off the diseased vein. We gain access to the vein through a small incision made near the ankle. The laser fiber is inserted into the lumen of the diseased vein and sealed. This causes blood to flow through the healthy, deeper veins, restoring healthy bloodflow.

No hospital admission or surgery is required and the entire procedure can be performed in less than 30 minutes.

  • Ambulatory Phlebectomy

This procedure involves removing a portion of a leg vein through an incision. After anesthetizing your leg with local anesthesia, an incision is made on your leg. Then, we remove all of the diseased tissue from within the leg.

The procedure takes roughly 20 to 45 minutes and you may resume your normal activities immediately.

  • Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy involves injecting chemicals into the vein, which causes shrinkage of the vein wall, which obliterates it over time. The procedure is done with a small needle, which may cause some minor discomfort to an area of your leg.

The procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes. Patients are often instructed to wear compression stockings for several days afterward.
